Dominican Republic: World Bank invites BDO Partner to speak

The World Bank recently invited Audit Partner, Carlos A. Ortega, to speak in a videoconference at its Regional Dialogue Series Corporate Accountability: a Gateway to Growth, with reference to the module International Standards on Auditing; Recent Trends. The specific subject was Implementing ISA: country case Dominican Republic. Mr. Ortega participated jointly with John Kellas, President of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and Ana Cristina Hirata Barros, the World Bank’s consultant.

This Regional Dialogue Series was launched by The World Bank in November 2006, the initiative being part of the Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) Accounting and Auditing (A&A) program. The ROSC A&A seeks to strengthen the international financial markets. At the same time, the program supports emerging countries in their efforts to create a better investment climate.

To date, 12 ROSC A&A reports have been completed in Latin America and the Caribbean. The findings of these reports and subsequent recommendations provide a wealth of knowledge that can and should be shared with other relevant stakeholders in the region. The Regional Dialogue Series is designed to give key stakeholders in Latin America an opportunity to share lessons learned and best practices with each other, and interact with leading experts in the accounting and auditing fields.

Participating countries include the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
