Canada: BDO merger in Edmonton

BDO Dunwoody LLP is pleased to announce a merger with Gardiner, Karbani, Audy and Partners (GKAP), an accounting firm based out of Edmonton, focusing on Alberta-based business operations. GKAP has been in business for over thirty-five years and currently specializes in Assurance, Income Tax and GST, Financial Advisory Services, Business Valuations and Litigation Support.

The combined operations of the firm in Edmonton will operate as BDO Dunwoody LLP and will boast professional staff of over 80 people. The Edmonton offices will be part of a national chartered accounting firm with 95 offices and over 300 partners nationwide, and an international network spanning over 100 countries.

“GKAP has an outstanding reputation in the Edmonton community for the quality of work and the quality of service they provide to their clients. This move will augment our own great team. This merger not only strengthens our presence in Edmonton, but it also helps to build our capabilities in Alberta and nationally. We’re excited to be on the same team,” said Gilles Chaput, CEO of BDO Dunwoody LLP.

Chaput adds: “The merger provides a good opportunity for the business community in Edmonton. It ensures that we strengthen the service that our firm can now offer to its current clients and the additional breadth and depth of the merger gives larger Edmonton and Alberta-based business ventures another viable choice for accounting service providers.”

Yusuf Karbani of GKAP indicates: “Our dynamic clients demand and deserve the best quality service that GKAP can provide. It became clear that to keep our clients and team happy, we needed to change the way we operate. GKAP and BDO share similar values and this merger delivers what our team and our clients need. The Edmonton business community will continue to get the personal, quality service that we have always provided. However, we now have the ability to deliver more services and provide access to a greater skill set as a part of BDO’s national firm and international network. But maybe the best part about joining BDO Dunwoody is that our team will have an improved opportunity for advancement and learning. I am confident that our people and our current and future clients will be pleased with the results of this merger.”
