BDO strengthens its service offering in Vietnam

BDO expands its service offering in Vietnam

The BDO international network has today announced that, effective 1 October 2012, more than 150 partners and staff from a number of Vietnam firms (including the PKF member firm in Hanoi) have agreed to form a new BDO Member Firm in Vietnam, with offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
This move will effectively expand BDO’s service offering in Vietnam to encompass a full range of audit, advisory and tax services, provided by a team of highly regarded industry professionals.  The resulting strengthened firm is targeted to be the top 6 firm in Vietnam.
BDO’s international CEO, Martin van Roekel, commented: “We continually strive to realise our vision of being the leader for exceptional client service wherever our clients are based.  As part of the emerging ASEAN market, Vietnam is an important strategic location for both BDO and our clients. Our network has strong national roots and our firms are experts in their home markets. Establishing a member firm in Vietnam offering the full suite of services our clients demand is therefore in keeping with BDO strategy.”
Mok Chew Yin, acting General Director and Managing Director of BDO in Vietnam, added: “BDO has had a presence in Vietnam since 1991 (originally as AFC Saigon).  We are confident that the new team will continue to add value to businesses and organisations in Vietnam, as they bring a depth and breadth of experience across multifaceted industries and disciplines.”
BDO has concurrently terminated the membership of BDO Vietnam Co Ltd (formerly AFC Saigon) and Bien Dong Vu Financial Consulting Co Ltd.  This means that the BDO Member Firm in Vietnam will no longer operate an office in Can Tho City, but will concentrate its operations through its new member firm in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
BDO Vietnam forms part of BDO’s Asia Pacific Region (ASEAN), led by Regional Senior Partner Dato’ Gan Ah Tee.  Madam Mai Lan Phuong of PKF will be taking up the position of General Director of BDO Vietnam in due course.
