BDO announces new member firm in Mexico

27 January 2011

BDO, the world’s fifth largest accountancy network, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new member firm in Mexico, Castillo Miranda y Compania, effective 1 January 2011.

Castillo Miranda, the former Crowe Horwath member firm, was established by one of the founders of the accounting profession in Mexico in 1943. Approximately 320 partners and staff work out of its 4 offices in Mexico City, Aguascalientes, Guadalajara and Monterrey. It also has 8 associated offices in Cancun, Hermosillo, Ciudad Juarez, Merida, Puerto Penasco, Queretaro, Mexicali and Tijuana. The firm’s estimated fee income for the year ended 31 December 2010 is €13.1 million (MXN 223 million). Audit services form the bulk of their activities and the firm also has a strong tax practice, as well as particular expertise in tourism and leisure consulting.

Carlos Garza y Rodriguez joined the firm in 1981 and in 2002 was appointed CEO and managing partner, when the last Castillo Miranda family member retired. He is looking forward to being part of the BDO network: “Our mission is to provide the highest level of professional services, both technically and ethically, and to commit to maintaining our exceptional client relationships. This is aligned very strongly to BDO’s commitment to deliver a globally integrated approach to client service and to be widely regarded as ‘the client relationship people’. I am confident that our deep understanding of our clients’ local business needs, combined with BDO’s global expertise, will result in a very successful collaboration”.

Jeremy Newman, CEO of BDO International Limited, adds “I am very pleased to welcome this well-respected firm to BDO, in a continuation of our strategy to invest in the development of the network’s capabilities. Our Latin American region posted significant growth last year and the addition of such a strongly performing firm can only help to enhance this level of progress. I have no doubt that BDO Mexico will work effectively with the other firms in North, Central and Latin America to deliver the best possible professional advice to clients right across the continent and globally”.
