BDO admits new member firm in Belarus

November 2010

BDO, the world's fifth largest accountancy network, is pleased to announce the admission to the network of a new member firm in Belarus, effective 17 November 2010.
Founded in 1997, BDO Belarus was formerly part of the KPMG network and is the largest accounting firm in Belarus by size of fees and number of staff. Based in Minsk, the firm has seen consistent increases in fee income year on year and now employs some 65 partners and staff. Their client base numbers approximately 100 clients for whom they provide audit, assurance, tax and advisory services. The new firm will work closely with BDO Eurasia B.V., a company formed by BDO and its member firms in Cyprus, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Russia and the Ukraine, with the objective of developing BDO activities in the Eurasia region.

Managing Partner Alexander Shkodin sees great potential for the firm's future with BDO: “Our objective in Belarus is to combine our local knowledge with the international expertise of the BDO network as a whole in order to help leading Belarusian companies and multinational entities alike in achieving their business objectives. The demand for professional and internationally experienced advisers is increasing day by day and we are confident that, with the backing of the BDO network, we can meet that need”.

Jeremy Newman, CEO of BDO, says “The standing and reputation of the firm founded by Mr Shkodin goes before them: it is no surprise that they are now the largest accounting firm in Belarus. With the admission of this significant firm we are furthering the strategic growth plans of BDO in this region I am pleased to welcome them both to BDO Eurasia and the wider BDO network. As with BDO Azerbaijan, which joined BDO Eurasia last month, I am confident that the BDO combination of national and international capabilities will assist us in delivering the best possible professional advice to clients across the region”.
