BDO Mexico commemorates 70 years

This year the firm of public accountants and advisers, BDO Mexico, celebrates its 70th anniversary in Mexico. Wilfrido Castillo Miranda established a top accounting and consulting firm which was destined to become a leader thanks to its reputation, specialisation and market position, providing services to both private and listed companies, with nationwide representation in all the important economic centres in Mexico.

Today, the firm continues to live up to the values of its founder and to being recognised as one of the most important firms in the country.

Wilfrido Castillo Miranda was the pioneer of Public Accountancy in Mexico and a recognised professor in UNAM. He was also the founder of the Business Administration degree and held the position of president of the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants: in 1956 he was distinguished as Professor Emeritus.

BDO Mexico’s headquarters are located in the Torre Mayor in Mexico City. The firm has expanded throughout the Mexican Republic, with offices in Monterrey, Guadalajara, Ciudad Juárez and Aguascalientes, together with representative offices in Querétaro, Mérida, Mexicali and Tijuana.

In 2011 the firm became a Member Firm of BDO, an international network of public accounting firms whose member firms perform professional services under the name of BDO.

In 2012 C.P.A. and C.F. Gabriel Llamas Monjardín assumed the management of the firm with a renewed vision: to be the leader for exceptional client service.

Coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Mexican firm, the international BDO network is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its founding. In 1963, firms from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, the United States and Canada joined forces to share and expand their knowledge, building an international capacity with a strong local base, which has now grown into the global network it is today, with a presence in 138 countries worldwide.

Throughout its history, BDO Mexico has been expanding its service offering, becoming one of the first choice service providers in assurance, financial control, tax, corporate finance, hotel and tourism consulting, international trade and customs, corporate governance and risk consulting, as well as information technology. Today, it has more than 750 employees and 28 partners in charge of the different service lines.

In the words of its partner director, C.P.A. and C.F. Gabriel Llamas Monjardín: "The success and permanence of BDO Mexico is the result of perseverance, as well as the capacity of the firm to overcome and adapt itself to the evolutionary rhythm of the global economy. Thanks to the trust our clients have placed in us during these 70 years of history, we can continue to strengthen our commitment to continuously improve and to offer an exceptional service that exceeds their expectations".
